Sigourney Weaver

siggieFinland Sigourney Weaver on yhdysvaltalainen näyttelijätär, joka nousi maailmankuuluksi elokuvanäyttelijäksi ensimmäisessä pääroolielokuvassaan, Ridley Scottin ohjaamassa elokuvassa Alien (1979)[x]. Toisen elokuvassa esiintyjän näyttelijän, Veronica Cartwrightin, piti alun pitäen esittää elokuvan ikoniseksi noussutta päähahmoa Ellen Ripleytä, mutta aivan viime hetkillä (elokuvan lavasterakenteiden rakennustöiden jo alettua) rooli päätettiinkin antaa Weaverille, joka oli vasta viimeisenä elokuvaan kiinnitetty näyttelijä ja jonka rooliksi suunniteltiin Lambertin roolia (joka annettiin Cartwrightille; kertomatta siitä hänelle ennen kuin vasta kuvauspaikalla!). Weaverillä oli Broadway -taustaa ja hän menestyi hyvin muissakin lajityypeissä, mutta kiinnostus tieteiselokuviin on täplittänyt Weaverin uraa aina näihin päiviin asti. Siinä missä monet muut yhdysvaltalaiset näyttelijättäret pitävät tieteis- ja kauhuelokuvia vain ponnistuslautana ”oikeiden” elokuvien pariin, Weaver on ansainnut itselleen lisänimen ”Sci-fi Queen” hänen lukuisten – yli viidelle vuosikymmenelle sijoittuvien – muistettavien tieteiselokuvarooliensa vuoksi.

United-Kingdom Sigourney Weaver is an actress from the United States who rose to world fame in her first main role in Ridley Scott’s science fiction/horror hybrid movie Alien (1979)[x]. Another actress appearing in the film, Veronica Cartwright, was initially slated to be acting the role of the iconic Ellen Ripley. At the final moments (when the building of the movie’s sets were already under way), however, the main role was given to Sigourney Weaver who was the last actor cast into the film and whose casting took place among the chaos of the set building. Cartwright was not even informed about the change until she arrived to the filming location. Weaver already had experience in the Broadway and succeeded well in other film genres but has returned to acting in science fiction films over and over again spanning five decades. Many other actresses only consider horror and science fiction films to only act as stepping boards into the world of ”real” movies but Sigourney has voluntarily returned to the genre time and again showing she truly has earned her nickname ”Sci-fi Queen”.

Clara Lago

Finland Clara Lago on vuonna 1990 syntynyt espanjalainen näyttelijätär. Clara aloitti uransa elokuvissa lapsinäyttelijänä jo 9-vuotiaana ja oli vasta 12-vuotias, kun hän oli ehdolla Espanjan parhaaksi uudeksi näyttelijättäreksi Goya-palkintogaalassa elokuvaroolistaan Imanol Uriben elokuvassa Carol’s Journey (2002). Clara on tehnyt aktiivisesti elokuvarooleja koko 2000-luvun, mutta lähinnä Espanjassa, vaikka puhuukin sujuvasti myös englantia. Clara tekee monipuolisesti elokuvarooleja railakkaista komedioista science fictionin kautta zombiekauhuun.

Patricia Tallman

Finland Patricia Tallman saattoi ehkä tulla isomman fanikunnan tietoisuuteen näytellessään televisiosarjoissa Babylon 5, Star Trek: The Next Generation, Star Trek: Voyager ja Star Trek : Deep Space Nine, mutta Patricia on ehtinyt uransa aikana olla mukana myös elokuvissa; sekä näyttelijänä että stunttina. Useammassakin George A. Romeron tuotannossa näyttelijänä ja stunttina mukana olleena Patricia olikin epäilemättä luonnollinen valinta päärooliiin, kun Romeron toinen suojatti Tom Savini teki uudelleenfilmatisoinnin Romeron ensimmäisestä zombie-elokuvasta Night of the Living Dead (1968).

Finland Tom Savini on yhdysvaltalainen elokuva-alan monitoimimies, joka aloitti erikoisefektien parissa  ja laajensi sittemmin repertuaariaan stunt-töihin, näyttelijäksi ja ohjaajaksikin. Savini teki ohjaaja George A. Romeron kauhuelokuvien parissa valloittavaa ja uraauurtavaa työtä käytännöllisten erikoisefektien saralla (mm. Martin, Dawn of the Dead, Day of the Dead, Creepshow ja Monkey Shines). Lisäksi monien tunnettujen ja merkittävien slasher-elokuvien efektit ovat hänen työtään (mm. Finland Sylvester Stallone on yhdysvaltalainen näyttelijä, joka on tehnyt varsin pitkän uran toimintaelokuvissa. Hänen uralleen mahtuu monia toimintaelokuvien klassikoiksi muodostuneita elokuvia erityisesti 1980-luvulta. Finland Vincent Cassel on ranskalainen elokuvanäyttelijä, joka tekee yhtä innokkaasti elokuvarooleja Euroopassa kuin Yhdysvalloissakin. Vaikka Casselin rujohko ulkomuoto yhdistetään usein karskeihin rooleihin, hän on kuitenkin näytellyt rooleja laidasta laitaan eksentrisistä taiteilijoista väkivaltaisiin poliisietsiviin. Pitkän uran tehneen näyttelijän varsinainen kansainvälinen läpimurto tapahtui vasta 1995 Mathieu Kassovitzin mainetta ja kunniaa niittäneellä rikosdraamalla La Haine.

Even though Cassel’s rather tough outlook is easily combined with rougher film roles, he has in actuality acted in a wide and diverse variety of roles from eccentric artists to hyper violent cops. His long career turned into an international success after his break through role in Mathieu Kassovitz’s crime drama La Haine (1995).

Danny Trejo

Finland Danny Trejo on yhdysvaltalainen näyttelijä, jonka tavaramerkkinä on miehen rujo olemus. Päihde- ja vankilakierteeltä miehen pelasti nyrkkeily, jonka kautta Danny sai mahdollisuuden osallistua elokuvien tekoon aluksi osana teknistä ryhmää. Sittemmin hän sai mahdollisuuden myös näytellä ja loppu onkin historiaa. Tätä kirjoitettaessa Dannylla on yli 300 elokuvaroolia; monet niistä tosin varsin pieniä, mutta kuitenkin.

Gina Carano

Finland Gina Carano on Yhdysvalloissa syntynyt näyttelijätär, joka on 2010-luvulla näytellyt lähinnä toimintaelokuvissa; myös päärooleissa. Muay Thai -kamppailijasta MMA-rinkeihin ammattiottelijaksi siirtynyt Gina vaihtoi ammattiottelijan uransa elokuva-alalle. Varsin onnistuneen ensimmäisen pääroolinsa jälkeen (Steven Soderberghin tiukka toimintajännäri Haywire (2011)) Ginalla on tuntunut riittävän nostetta Hollywoodissa; etenkin toimintaa ja kamppailulajeja esittävien roolien näyttelijänä.

Varmaankin hänen roolinsa Oscar-pystejä pokanneessa draamassa Three Billboards Outside Ebbing, Missouri tuo hänelle nostetta ns. vakavampien roolien tekijänä, mutta kauhun ja jännityksen ystäviä Samara on hemmotellut tätä kirjoitettaessa (2018) jo hyvinkin vuosien ajan sekä television (Ash vs. Evil Dead, Picnic at Hanging Rock) että elokuvien (Bad Girl, Mayhem, The Babysitter) puolella.

She is probably going to get more serious attention for being part of the Oscar-winning drama film Three Billboards Outside Ebbing, Missouri but for fans of the horror and thriller genres she has became a welcome addition to the genre. At the time of this writing (2018) her work both in television (Ash vs. Evil Dead, Picnic at Hanging Rock) and film (Bad Girl, Mayhem, The Babysitter) has won her over her own little – and growing by the minute – cult following.

Mimsy Farmer

Finland Oikealta nimeltään Merle Farmer. Yhdysvaltalainen näyttelijätär, joka aloitti uransa Yhdysvalloissa, mutta siirtyi Euroopan puolelle 1960- ja 1970-lukujen taitteessa tekemään elokuvia sekä Ranskassa että Italiassa. Mimsy oli mukana monissa nyt euroklassikoiksi mielletyissä gialloissa ja trillereissä. Hän lopetti aktiivisen kansainvälisen uransa elokuvanäyttelijänä Gabrielle Lavian eroottiseen trilleriin Sensi (Evil Senses, 1986). Hän jäi kuitenkin pysyvästi Ranskaan asumaan ja työskenteli Ranskassa ja Italiassa teattereissa ja elokuvatuotannoissa lavastajana, puvustajana ja kuvanveistäjänä. Mimsyllä on Euroopassa elokuva-alalla näyttelijättärenä toimiva tytär Aisha Cerami.
