Ed Harris on yhdysvaltalainen näyttelijä. Harris siirtyi teatterimaailmasta elokuvien puolelle 1970-luvun loppupuolella ja ensimmäinen rooli oli pieni sivuosa Michael Crichtonin erinomaisessa jännärissä Coma (1978)[x], jossa elokuvassa päätähtinä olivat Michael Douglas ja Geneviève Bujold. Ensimmäinen isompi rooli tuli jo pian Jerrold Freedmanin toimintaelokuvassa Borderline (1980), jossa elokuvassa tähtiroolia veti Charles Bronson. Jo seuraavassa elokuvassaan Harris nousi itse pääroolin vetäjäksi: kyseessä oli George A. Romeron toimintaelokuva Knightriders (1981), jossa vierellä roikkuivat mm. Romerolle hyvinkin tutut Ken Foree, John Amplas, Tom Savini ja Patricia Tallman. Noista vuosista on jo hyvän aikaa kulunut ja Harris on sittemmin ollut elokuvarooleissa hyvinkin satakunta kertaa, joista rooleista varsin iso määrä on sotaelokuvissa, rikosdraamoissa ja -jännäreissä. Ed Harris jatkaa edelleen mittavaa uraansa ja hyvä niin!

Ed Harris is an actor from the United States. He migrated from to movies from the theatre stages in the late 1970’s. His first film role was a minor role in Michael Crichton’s excellent medical thriller Coma (1978)[x] with Michael Douglas and Geneviève Bujold. His first major role came but two years later in Jerrold Freedman’s action film Borderline (1980) starring Charles Bronson. In his next movie he is already a leading actor: George A. Romero’s action film Knightriders (1981) with a cast all-too familiar to Romero: Ken Foree, John Amplas, Tom Savini and Patricia Tallman. A good chunk of time has gone by since those days and Ed Harris has steadily acted throughout all these decades totaling his roles in movies probably around the 100 mark! There is no point in re-iterating or highlighting even the most interesting of them as they are just too numerous. Suffice to say that Harris has had a major impact in the history of crime thrillers, crime dramas and war films of the last three decades or so.
