Ving Rhames

Ving Rhames on yhdysvaltalainen näyttelijä. Toista sataa roolia elokuva-alalla 1980-luvun puolivälistä alkaen tekee Rhamesista jo melkoisen alan veteraanin. Rhames on tullut tunnetuksi erityisesti nimekkäistä sivuosarooleistaan. Tunnetuin lienee Brian De Palman Mission Impossible (1996) sekä sen kaikki toistaiseksi (2024) ilmestyneet lukuisat jatko-osat. Rhames on kuitenkin tullut tutuksi myös sivuosista kauhuelokuvissa: Wes Cravenin eriskummallinen People Under the Stairs (1991), Adrian Lynen mainio Jacob’s Ladder (1990), Zack Snyderin pätevä Dawn of the Dead (2004), Steve Minerin hirvittävä Day of the Dead (2008), Nick Lyonin pölö Zombie Apocalypse (2011), John Gulagerin epäonnistunut Piranha 3DD (2012) ja vaikka Kevin Carrawayn ponneton 7 Below (2012). Rhames on myös takonut kasapäin mainioita rooleja toiminta- ja jännityselokuvien sektorilla eikä niitä nyt tässä viitsi lähteä luetteloimaan.

Ving Rhames is an actor from the United States. Over a hundred movie roles under his belt since the mid-80’s, he can be called a veteran of the industry. Rhames has been known especially for his on-going recurring supporting role as Luther in the movie saga started by Brian De Palma’s Mission Impossible (1996) and continuing to this day (2024 at the time of this writing). But he has also appeared in numerous interesting supporting roles in horror movies: Wes Craven’s eccentric People Under the Stairs (1991), Adrian Lyne’s excellent Jakob’s Ladder (1990), Zack Snyder’s fine Dawn of the Dead (2004), Steve Miner’s awful Day of the Dead (2008), Nick Lyon’s turd Zombie Apocalypse (2011), John Gulager’s failure Piranha 3DD and for good measure Kevin Carraway’s misguided 7 Below (2012). Rhames has also been responsible for marvelous supporting and even leading roles in action and thriller films but they’re too too numerous to catalogue here.
